This initiative is not simply for the most dedicated of surfers but is aimed at the mainstream and offers another string to the bow of New Zealand’s world class tourism industry.

“We are always about making access to surfing easier for everyone and Quipmo allows those travelling without their gear that option.  We look forward to working with Quipmo and the New Zealand surfing community to make gear readily accessible” said Ben Kennings, General Manager of Surfing New Zealand.

Quipmo’s founder and CEO Chris Evans said: “We are truly stoked to be partnering with Surfing New Zealand! Working with a top tier organisation who are highly innovative and who genuinely care about the surfing community is massively exciting for us. Values count and we believe that this partnership has the potential to bring the whole community together through the share economy and surfing.”

Bicycling WA and Quipmo Announce Partnership!

Bicycling Western Australia and Quipmo announce partnership to get more people cycling in WA!

Highlights:

  • Bicycling Western Australia is the premier cycling body for recreational cyclists in Western Australia
  • Quipmo – Equipment for the Moment! – launched in Perth in Feb 2017 is the surf, bike and snow peer to peer gear rental marketplace for like-minded travellers and locals who share a passion for adventure!
  • Bicycling Western Australia and Quipmo announce partnership to get more people cycling in Western Australia!
  • Connecting people with great gear for adventures just became a whole lot easier!

Bicycling Western Australia believe that bike riding gives people the freedom to create a healthier future and works hard to make bike riding easier, safer and more accessible for all Western Australians.

As an independent Western Australian association Bicycling Western Australia aims to improve bike riding in Western Australia for its members and the community at large. With the support of its 4,244 members[6] Bicycling Western Australia advocates for better cycling infrastructure, improved riding conditions and better recognition of bike riders in Western Australia, along with creating and delivering world class cycling events that cater for the serious recreational cyclist through to the fun, community minded!

Bicycling Western Australia and Quipmo are going to get more people cycling in Western Australia! Whether it’s offering high performance road bikes for people travelling on business, an eBike to explore the coast, families chasing bikes for the kids whilst on holidays or whether it’s giving access to the latest gear releases through demonstration models – this partnership will get more people riding and more people passionate about cycling in WA!

There are some 600,000 people who cycle in WA each week[1] and following the most significant investment into cycling infrastructure in the State’s history, this year’s Budget will see a total allocation of more than $134 million over the next four years[2]. Beyond expenditure however is vision, with Fremantle holding ambition to become the most bike-friendly city in Australia[3]. Cycling is a very key part of the Western Australian lifestyle and is something that will underpin the flourishing cycle tourism industry. Whilst still in its infancy in the last 3 years, 7% of Australians had a cycle holiday experience in WA. In addition, 26% of Western Australians undertook a daytrip in WA involving cycling[4]. Overnight visitors who undertake cycling while on holiday is dominated by the intrastate market (200,300 visitors), followed by international (104,400 visitors). These two markets also stay considerably longer than the average visitor; 59 nights for international visitors who undertake cycling compared to 30 nights for the average international visitor, and 5 nights for intrastate visitors who undertake cycling compared to 3.8 nights for the average intrastate visitor[5].

Given tourists access to great gear is fundamental in supporting this fast growing tourism sector and thus the potential for Quipmo to substantially alter the cycle tourism landscape in Western Australia is significant. Whether it’s a local bike shop looking for new customers or someone with bikes in their shed, anyone can now service the Western Australian tourism market. This initiative is not simply for the most dedicated of cyclists but is aimed at the mainstream and offers another string to the bow of Western Australia’s world class tourism industry.

“BWA are thrilled to be working with Quipmo, just thrilled.  It’s great to be supporting a WA based tech start-up, with an idea and concept that feels just right for our members” said Chris Gaskell, BWA CEO.

Quipmo’s founder and CEO Chris Evans said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be partnering with Bicycling Western Australia and can’t wait to substantially change bike rental access across WA! Whether people are holidaying in Perth, in Broome, or in Margaret River, there’s no better way to see our beautiful state than on a bike! The whole community has the potential to benefit through this initiative and we can’t wait to see what this fantastic partnership with Bicycling Western Australia can achieve!”

Cycling New Zealand and Quipmo Announce Partnership!

NZ’s National Cycling Federation – Cycling New Zealand and the world’s leading equipment sharing platform Quipmo announce partnership!

Highlights:

  • Cycling New Zealand is the national cycling federation in New Zealand
  • Quipmo – Equipment for the Moment! – launched in Perth in Feb 2017 is the surf, bike and snow peer to peer gear rental marketplace for like-minded travellers and locals who share a passion for adventure!
  • Cycling New Zealand and Quipmo announce partnership to get more people cycling in New Zealand!
  • Connecting people with great gear for adventures just became a whole lot easier!

Established in 2003 Cycling New Zealand is the national sporting federation, and embraces all things cycling – all cycling codes and participation and competition at all levels.  Cycling New Zealand works closely with national bike and cycling organisations including BMX NZ, Cycling New Zealand Road & Track, Mountain Bike NZ and Cycling New Zealand Schools.

Cycling New Zealand recognises the need to provide long-term direction for the sport. In collaboration with cycling and commercial partners, central and local government, Cycling New Zealand provides the strategic framework for continued growth and success in cycling – continuing to increase participation, driving health and social benefits through cycling, and driving high performance outcomes and success on the global stage.

Thousands of Kiwi bike owners stand to profit from the online rental platform which is expected to offer a new experience draw card for international and domestic tourists.

More than 1.8 million international visitors travel to New Zealand each year and many of them to experience our great outdoors.

Cycling New Zealand want to inspire travellers and all people to cycle more. “We’re pleased to partner with Quipmo to make this peer top peer rental platform available in New Zealand”, says CEO Andrew Matheson.

Kiwi’s can now list their bikes online for the enjoyment of a local neighbour or international visitor. This partnership is key to Cycling New Zealand’s mission to inspire people to ride and will encourage residents and tourists alike to cycle for fun, and to experience New Zealand’s picturesque scenery and natural environment.  And for those who have bikes sitting in their garage it’s a great way to earn some money through renting your bike out.

Quipmo’s founder and CEO Chris Evans said: “We’re phenomenally excited to be partnering with Cycling New Zealand! The potential to get more people cycling across all disciplines and right across NZ through cycle tourism is massive. NZ is such a beautiful country, with a sophisticated tourism industry, an incredibly well established cycling community and an advanced cycling related economic ecosystem. Independently however they are still quite disaggregated. Quipmo can help bring these closer together – benefiting all stakeholders as well as the broader community.”

Bike SA and Quipmo Announce Partnership!

Bike SA and Quipmo announce partnership to get more people cycling in South Australia!

Highlights:

  • Bicycle SA is the peak body for recreational and commuter cycling in South Australia
  • Quipmo – Equipment for the Moment! – launched in Perth in Feb 2017 is the surf, bike and snow peer to peer gear rental marketplace for like-minded travellers and locals who share a passion for adventure!
  • Bike SA and Quipmo announce partnership to get more people cycling in South Australia!
  • Connecting people with great gear for adventures just became a whole lot easier!

Bicycle SA advocates on behalf of recreational, commuter and touring cyclists throughout South Australia. We support cycling for recreation, for transport, health and the environment, as well as travel and fun.

Their work this year will see 8,000 primary school children across the state taught to ride safely, we will deliver multiple one-day community rides and multi-day tours, ongoing investments in mountain biking as well as representing the interests of their 6,000 members.

Bike SA and Quipmo are going to get more people cycling in South Australia! Whether it’s offering high performance road bikes for people travelling on business, downhill bikes to explore SA’s trails, families chasing bikes for the kids whilst on holidays or whether it’s giving access to the latest gear releases through demonstration models – this partnership will get more people riding and more people passionate about cycling in South Australia!

With over 420,000 people cycling each year in South Australia[1], coupled with over 17M overnight trips in South Australia[2], the potential for Quipmo to substantially alter the cycle tourism landscape in South Australia is significant. Whether it’s a local bike shop looking for new customers or someone with bikes in their shed, anyone can now service the South Australian tourism market. This initiative is not simply for the most dedicated of cyclists but is aimed at the mainstream and offers another string to the bow of South Australia’s world class tourism industry.

“Peer to Peer applications are now a way of life and we see our partnership with Quipmo as a great alternative in delivering quick and easy access to a bike for those that want to get out for a ride, whether they be a local or visitor to SA. Quipmo is a great way to earn a little extra cash by renting out that bike when it’s not being used and of course, this applies to our local bike shops as well. Quipmo is a great way to “Try before you Buy” on the ever-expanding range of new bicycle products and technology.” said Christian Haag – CEO of Bike SA.

[2] http://tourism.sa.gov.au/research-and-statistics/south-australia/value-of-tourism

Quipmo’s founder and CEO Chris Evans said: “We are over the moon to be partnering with Bike SA and can’t wait to substantially change bike rental access across South Australia! Working with a highly innovative and sector leading organisation who are at the very forefront of cycling advocacy and community leadership is truly exciting and we believe that this partnership has the potential to bring the whole community together through the share economy and cycling.”

Beyond tourism there’s another key reason that this relationship offers so much promise and potential. South Australian’s have shown great interest in bike sharing with Ofo having recorded over 55,000 trips in Adelaide alone[3]. This partnership coupled with Bike SA’s acquisition of Ofo’s bikes earlier this year shows how very seriously Bike SA is taking the potential for cycling innovation within transport, leisure and logistics to substantially change how many people are cycling across South Australia.

Quipmo and Bicycle Network announce partnership!

Bike sharing across Australia just got easier!

Highlights:

  • Quipmo is the surf, bike and snow peer to peer gear rental marketplace for like-minded travellers and locals who share a passion for adventure!
  • Bicycle Network is Australia’s largest bike riding organisation. With over 50,000 members nationwide, Bicycle Network is active in every state and territory in Australia. Founded in 1975, Bicycle Network has for more than 40 years now, been passionately and tirelessly supporting, educating and standing up for people who ride bikes!
  • Quipmo and Bicycle Queensland announce partnership to get more people cycling across Australia!
  • Connecting people with great gear for adventures just became a whole lot easier!

Quipmo and Bicycle Network have joined forces to give Australians access to bicycles and sporting gear anywhere at any time. This partnership will give people access to all kinds of bikes and accessories wherever they are to help them see the sights and live like locals. Instead of having to worry about packing and safely transporting bikes when travelling, people can now just search Quipmo for their preferred ride at their destination, book it for hire and be set to go.

Bicycle Network CEO Craig Richards said it is exciting to partner with a revolutionary service that will make bike riding easier for people wherever they are.

“There is great bike riding almost anywhere you go in the world, but sometimes bringing a bike with you in the car, train or plane can be hard,” said Mr Richards.

“With Quipmo, our members will be able to hire bikes and riding gear wherever they are and become part of the local bike culture. And like Airbnb and other services, gear will also come with some bonus local tips and insight from owners.”

A partnership that has the potential to further align cycling and tourism

According to the key findings from the Austroads 2013 Participation Survey 3.6 million (17% of) people ride a bike in Australia each week and 7.4 million (37%) had ridden at least once in the previous year and the average Australian household has 1.5 bicycles in working order. With over 8 million households in Australia the quantum of bike stock nationally is truly huge!

This coupled with how large the tourism industry, both domestic and international, means there is a huge opportunity to get more travellers seeing Australia and engaging in Australian communities on bike!

Quipmo CEO Chris Evans said it is a thrill to be partnering with a truly world class body and Australia’s biggest bike riding organisation.

“Partnering with Bicycle Network will help make bike riding easier for everyone all around the country. We can’t wait to see more people riding and this initiative will further align Australia’s cycling community with tourism,” said Mr Evans

“By giving people access to great gear wherever they’re travelling, whether it’s domestic or international, more people will enjoy this amazing country by bike which would be a fantastic outcome.”
